- SEA CSI Plan Approval
During its January 2021 meeting, the California State Board of Education (SBE) approved Shasta Union High’s 2020–21 CSI Plan/s/. Section 1111(d)(1)(B) of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act as amended by Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires local educational agencies (LEAs), in partnership with stakeholders, to develop and implement a CSI Plan/s/ to improve student outcomes for each school identified by the state as eligible for CSI. ESSA, Section 1111(d)(1)(B)(v) requires these Plan/s/ be approved by the school, the LEA, and the SEA. For the purposes of the ESSA, the SBE serves as California’s SEA.

2. CSI High School Exit Opportunity
2. CSI High School Exit Opportunity
While the CDE took into consideration the possibility of exiting high schools identified on the 2019 California School Dashboard (Dashboard) for CSI-Graduation Rate using graduation data from the 2020 Dashboard, the CDE has determined that high schools will not exit CSI-Graduate Rate status in the 2020–21 SY. This decision was made in part due to the unprecedented challenges related to the COVID-19 pandemic and the impact it had on teaching and learning during the 2020–21 SY. As a result, LEAs with high schools identified for CSI-Graduation Rate on the 2019 Dashboard will maintain their CSI eligibility status in the 2020–21 SY. This will allow LEAs to continue to receive funding for CSI, including the fiscal year 2020 CSI LEA funding, to be used to develop and implement CSI plans in the 2021–22 SY. The CDE plans to exit CSI-Graduation Rate status in the 2021–22 SY.
